I was personally very excited about SCI-FI finally releasing the last 10 episodes of this critically acclaimed series. Personally, I think that it was a very dick move to split the final season in half and air it a year later when the series had already been dragged so long due to the writer’s strike. But enough of my complaints, let’s just dive in here.
I apologize that this post is so late. To be honest, I didn’t feel like writing about the first episode of the series since it didn’t impress me all that much. It was very routine, and emenated a depressing feeling all throughout. It was a huge disappointment.
Earth is now a Cylon homeworld, and in fact the entire 13th Tribe were Cylons. This is obviously opening up a new line of questions. Were the Cylons not man-made? Didn’t they make the Cylons years ago? So are the Cylons just another race created by God?
Worse than all this, the Cylons have nuked the crap out of the planet and nobody can live there anymore. This was our first impressions from the cliffhanger at the end of episode 10 any way. Also, Starbuck is… a… Cylon?! That makes sense since we see her corpse on Earth. Meanwhile we learn that Elen was also the fifth! Okay this is all information that doesn’t really baffle anybody and is rather predictable.
Continuing on to the next episode, we have Baltar asking God to come down and beg him for forgiveness. On another hand, everybody is now buddies with the Cylons and Gaeda thinks there is something wrong here so he teams up with Tom Zarryck who is itching for action. Adama and Roslin think that this is a good time to make babies at the age of 85 so they start having sex (I mean come on… there were happier times in the show where they could’ve done this).
Overall, I am not impressed so far. I am only hoping that this series will pick up and end well because it has been a masterpiece so far and I’d hate it to be ruined at the end.
